Are you thinking about living in Columbus Ohio? Well I have 10 reasons why I feel Columbus is such a destination city and why you will simply love living here.

Hey there, it's Rigs (Sharyn Rigsbee), a Realtor with Coldwell Banker King Thompson here in Columbus Ohio. I have lived in Columbus all of my life and I absolutely love calling this place home. So I have 10 reasons to share with you why I feel Columbus and its surrounding areas are an absolutely great choice for you to live and work.

#1 | JOB OPPORTUNITIES

We have several Fortune 500 companies with their headquarters right here in Columbus and that's a good thing. Companies like Nationwide Insurance, NetJets, Cardinal Health, L Brands, Big Lots, American Electric Power and a few more.

#2 | GREAT SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES

Big city living isn't for everyone but at the same time urban areas have their perks as well. Columbus has some great surrounding communities that keep you close to the heart of the city. Areas like Pickerington, Dublin, New Albany, Westerville, Hilliard, Bexley, and Worthington - are rich in history and culture and have strong performing schools too.

#3 | COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES

I must tell ya, Columbus has been named one of the smartest cities and that is partly due to the number of colleges and universities and post-secondary opportunities in the city. We are home to the Ohio State University, The Columbus College of Art and Design, Capital University, DeVry University, and Ohio Dominican University, just to name a few.

#4 | ENTERTAINMENT

There are plenty of fun activities for you to enjoy throughout the year in Columbus. From shows or parades in the Short North to concerts and events over at Express Live and Newport Music Hall to other events over at Nationwide Arena. And oh don't forget plenty of fun activities for the kids and family over at Columbus Commons too.

#5 | DINING

There is certainly no shortage of yummy places to eat, drink, and be merry in Columbus. From Lindy's in German village to Milestone 229 in Downtown Columbus to the Press Grill in the Short North - well those are some of my favorites to name a few.

#6 | SPORTS, SPORTS, AND MORE SPORTS

If you didn't know, Columbus is the home to the Ohio State Buckeyes and college football is definitely a big deal around here but we also have the Columbus Blue Jackets hockey over at Nationwide Arena, the Columbus Clippers baseball over at Huntington Ballpark and we host the Memorial Golf Tournament over at Murfield Village in Dublin. Trust me you will definitely run into some good ole Midwestern folks who are yelling out "O-H-I-O"!

#7 | FUN FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY

With the Columbus Zoo, the COSI, the city's own recreation and parks and Zoombezi Bay basically in your backyard, there is no shortage of good ole family fun in our city and did I mention that Kings Island and Cedar Point are just a few short hours away for all of you thrill seekers as well.

#8 | REAL ESTATE GROWTH AND MORE GROWTH

According to Realtor.com for December 2018 Columbus was the fourth hottest housing market. The city's definitely growing and has been for several years. Strong local leadership and strong community support and engagement proves why Columbus is a destination city and continues to be a popular choice for folks to live and work.

#9 | THE COST OF LIVING IS RELATIVELY LOW

With the hot housing market and good of job options in the area, Columbus is still very much appealing and the strong economy allows your paycheck to go further so that you can continue to enjoy the things that really matter most.

#10 | WE ARE STILL CLOSE TO IT ALL

Just an hour or so from other Ohio cities like Cleveland, Toledo, Cincinnati, and, Dayton and even just a few short hours away from our other neighboring states like Illinois, Pennsylvania, and, Indiana, you are truly just a hop skip and a jump away from a change in scenery and even more fun.
